Mail art ala Griffin & Sabine

Current School Project based on the book Griffin and Sabine. We created our own artists and then we made small books. Working as our invented characters, we made postcards. The first postcard set must be created on a newspaper background. I created a post office in my room. Students put completed postcards in their "mailboxes" and wait to pick or be picked as a penpal. Students then create the second set of postcards using their artist's signature as a base. It's crazy complicated but it was all worth it when the first student got mail. The look on her face was priceless. When I asked her what she thought, "It's kind of cool..." This from a girl who almost never smiles. Cool.
